Holiday Hairstyles from the Stylist

Tis’ the season! It’s holiday party time. And our favorite questions are here too, like, what to wear, how to style your hair and which French wine you should bring? Well, today I will be sharing with you two hairstyles that are appropriate for the season, and few tips from someone who knows a thing or two more than I do about hair.

Rogaine invited me to meet with Celebrity Stylist, Benjamin Thigpen, whose work has graced the glossy pages of GQ, Departures and more, in addition to doing hair for the Patriot’s wide receiver, Julian Edelman, and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery. I was lucky enough to take the hot seat to find out how I should style my hair this holiday season!

We stopped by the Blind Barber where Benjamin gave me a little trim and shared his tips and tricks for my next holiday soirée. I’m sharing below two styles, one on the more polished and sophisticated side while the other is more on the wild and messy side.

Clean and Polished

My first look is the more modest and reserved look for the fellas that are planning on wearing something more than casual, like a nice velvet tuxedo jacket layered over a turtleneck sweater. You can never go wrong with the “I’m a good Jewish boy” look.

A Tip from Ben: If you’re going to go for a more clean and polished look then definitely grow out your beard and have a little scruff so the contrast will stand out.

Messy & Rugged

The other look, which is the one I personally prefer out of the two is the messy and rugged style. If you choose to dress up or dress down, this hairstyle essentially can be paired with anything you choose to wear.

A Tip from Ben: If you want to go rugged, but not too rugged, keep your hair messy, but make sure to keep your facial hair trimmed or even shaven off.

4 Easy tips for better hair this Holiday:

  1. Use heat (or blow dry your hair) with very little product (like pomade) for a natural bedhead look.
  2. Ben suggests to use a volumizing mousse to help make your thinning hair look fuller. Its a good trick to hide some of the empty areas, hence why Ben used the volumizing mousse to really get the hair strands to expand when the heat was applied.
  3. Don’t be afraid of change, but also don’t go overboard right before the holiday season. Stick to something that you like, however, if you want to try something different and bold I would suggest testing it out weeks before the holidays just in case you don’t like it and won’t be stuck with it. You’ll have the chance to grow it out before the holiday celebrations.
  4. Rogaine can be used with any styling products so it doesn’t interfere with your look or styling routines. For those who have thinning hair, or think their hair is thinning, give Men’s Rogaine Foam a try.

Thanks again to Rogaine for hooking up this styling session! For those of you who have thinning hair, or think you might be thinning, give Rogaine Foam a try. It can be used with any styling products so you can pull off any look you want. Find it on Amazon!
