The Forumla E Race with Audi

My love for cars comes from my dad, who’s an auto-engineer and owned a car dealership when I was younger.

This past April, I attended an Audi event in New York City where they introduced their new breed of sports cars including the new Audi R8 GT AKA my future whip (really, really soon).

Last weekend I was invited to go see the Formula E race, which was an all-electric car race, in Brooklyn with Audi. This is my first time ever experiencing anything remotely close to an actual car race. The German-leading car brand had their own car, and their first edition of the electric vehicle, in the race led by Lucas Di Grassi. It’s super awesome that the Audi Sport brand has the performance and technology to make cars for the track (like you see above) and the street.

Since the Formula E  race had all electric cars the noise was quite low, which is surprisingly pleasant, and nothing like what you hear on Need For Speed. When we arrived to the venue we got to see the team assembling and preparing the all-electric vehicle for the race. After that we headed on over to the Emotion Club, which was an air-conditioned VIP Tent filled with booze and food prior to the race.

For the event, I wore a personalized custom bomber which Audi made for us–I can’t wait for the Fall season to wear this bad boy again.

If you missed it this year, don’t worry, the race is scheduled to be back in New York next summer (and again for the next 5 years).

Protect Your Phone with Verizon

Being a blogger, it is essential to have a working phone, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll need a protection plan in case of any mishaps or drops. And trust me that day will come. Living in a fast-paced city like New York, and stressing out over the smallest things can be, well, stressful. Here’s one less thing you shouldn’t worry about – your phone.

I always have my phone in my hand, which is a really bad habit, especially in NYC. The likelihood of bumping into someone and then dropping your phone, which will then lead to a cracked phone, is quite high.

I remember the first time I dropped my phone. It wasn’t my fault, actually. I hadn’t seen my sister in about month and we were meeting up for the holiday, I forget which one, but some Jewish holiday. Naturally when she saw me she jumped on me and hugged me, really hard too. At that point I was holding my phone, and her neediness caused me to drop my phone. A huge cracked-sound hit the floor. I didn’t even need to pick up the phone to know it was shattered. I felt bad because I knew she came from a good place and it was just a simple accident.

At the time, I didn’t have an insurance or protection plan to save my phone. Instead I got my iPhone fixed from a second-hand store which did an awful job, leading me to need to purchase a brand new phone. A cracked screen is one trend you don’t want to wear.

The benefit of insuring your phone is for situations like these. Verizon has a Total Mobile Protection plan which will ship you a replacement phone if it breaks or gets lost or stolen as soon as the very next day. How convenient is that? It will also save you money on cracked screen repairs (with just a $49 deductible), which is helpful when you drop your phone frequently. Plus, in many areas, a technician can come directly to you on the same day, wherever you are, to fix your broken screen. The plan also comes with unrestricted access to Tech Coach, a.ka. unlimited expert support for almost ANY question you might have about your phone.

You can enroll into the plan and start to protect your phone through July 14, 2017 — $11 a month will cover your smartphone in the case of accidents like mine!

Today, Tuesday, June 27th is National Sunglasses Day, a holiday that went viral last year and is the perfect day to show off your sunglasses, not to mention your other new summer essentials! This is The Vision Council’s fourth annual National Sunglasses Day, and to celebrate I’m sharing with you my shades from Kingsley Rowe. Summer is here and even though we waited close to 6 chilly-to-frigid months for it, it’s here to stay!

What most people tend to forget is the importance of sunglasses, and not because they tend to make you look good, hide your bags under your eyes or the fact you had a good time the night before, but their sole purpose is actually to protect your eyes from UV.

What is UV you ask?

The sun emits three kinds of radiation: UVA, UVB and UVC. While UVC is absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere, UVB radiation is only partially blocked and can burn the skin and eyes. UVA rays are not filtered and cause the most damage to vision health, according to the World Health Organization. Direct sunlight is not the only source of danger from UVA and UVB radiation: both types of rays reflect off surfaces such as water, snow, sand, concrete and even buildings, which can increase exposure levels.

Protect your eyes with a pair of UV-protective shades and avoid: trouble seeing, sunburn of the eye, irritation and cancer , all of which are symptoms American adults report experiencing after prolonged exposure to the sun’s UV rays, according to a survey by The Vision Council.

Join me and get involved by grabbing your favorite pair and posting a selfie on your social media channels with the tags #SunglassSelfie and #NationalSunglassesDay!
