Today, Tuesday, June 27th is National Sunglasses Day, a holiday that went viral last year and is the perfect day to show off your sunglasses, not to mention your other new summer essentials! This is The Vision Council’s fourth annual National Sunglasses Day, and to celebrate I’m sharing with you my shades from Kingsley Rowe. Summer is here and even though we waited close to 6 chilly-to-frigid months for it, it’s here to stay!

What most people tend to forget is the importance of sunglasses, and not because they tend to make you look good, hide your bags under your eyes or the fact you had a good time the night before, but their sole purpose is actually to protect your eyes from UV.

What is UV you ask?

The sun emits three kinds of radiation: UVA, UVB and UVC. While UVC is absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere, UVB radiation is only partially blocked and can burn the skin and eyes. UVA rays are not filtered and cause the most damage to vision health, according to the World Health Organization. Direct sunlight is not the only source of danger from UVA and UVB radiation: both types of rays reflect off surfaces such as water, snow, sand, concrete and even buildings, which can increase exposure levels.

Protect your eyes with a pair of UV-protective shades and avoid: trouble seeing, sunburn of the eye, irritation and cancer , all of which are symptoms American adults report experiencing after prolonged exposure to the sun’s UV rays, according to a survey by The Vision Council.

Join me and get involved by grabbing your favorite pair and posting a selfie on your social media channels with the tags #SunglassSelfie and #NationalSunglassesDay!

10 Things to do in Seven Dials London

London is one of the fashion capitals in the world (amongst New York, Milan and Paris). Hundreds of thousands travel to the city to solely do one thing, that is, to shop. Some of the most biggest names came from London that you might be familiar with like Burberry, Christopher Kane, Paul Smith and Alexander McQueen. Most Londoners and tourist would go shopping in areas like Oxford Street, Bond and Regent street where stores like Selfridges and Harrods are located. One area that people tend to forget, but shouldn’t is Seven Dials London.

The area is super charming and has a range of boutique and special niche brands in addition to really great places to eat. Here are 10 things you can do in SDL.

Stay At The Radisson Blu Edwardian

Located on Mercer street and the center of Seven Dials– it is super convenient, the staff is overly friendly and just a walk from all the stores and shops that the area has to offer. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the London Eye and Big Ben, so that’s a plus too.

Get a Haircut at Murdock

And a beard trim too. Sometimes you forget or don’t have the time to get a haircut ahead of your trip, but luckily I had Murdock to tame my hair and make me look human again. Their hair products are quite good too. I actually bought a new pomade for my hair from their own line.

Have Ice Cream at Udderlicious

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream. The ice-cream at Udderlicious is possibly some of the best I had in a while. It’s prepared like gelato, but is actually made with less sugar (read: less calories), so you shouldn’t feel bad when having the sweet treat.

Shop at Ron Dorff

Ron Dorff was my favorite find I came across at Seven Dials. Perhaps it was the clean and modern aesthetic or the simple, functional and timeless gear. The brand was started by a Frenchman and a Swede and offers a range of sportswear that are super versatile, so you can go straight to brunch from your morning workout at the gym. Additionally, they offer a selection of great swimmer from short shorts to speedo briefs. Currently they’re having a pop-up with Martone Cycling in their store.

Have Lunch at Cure + Cut

The food scene over at Seven Dials went beyond my expectations. After a few meetings and shooting some content a long the way, we made our way to Cure + Cut to have some lunch before jetting back to New York City. Their speciality is their sandwiches and salads. Everything tasted super fresh and was probably my best meal during my stay in London.

Stock Up Your Grooming Essentials at BEAST

I love learning about grooming products mainly because I don’t use many since my knowledge isn’t up to par in the field. BUT- it is super important to take care of your skin, hair, and all things grooming. When we visited BEAST in London it was exciting to learn about these new grooming brands, what they do and how they help you look better. What I love most about this store is it’s store that solely focuses on grooming, and offers a range of brands from all over the world.

Make Your Own Personalized Larsson & Jennings Watch

Larsson & Jennings has been on top of their game for a few years now, and if you don’t believe me, scroll on instagram for a few minutes and you’ll see the hundreds of bloggers and customers that are sporting this watch. Their store in Seven Dials is super inviting, and perfectly fits the aesthetic of the brand. You can now choose your own dial, hardware and color leather strap at the store, which I found pretty cool! (See above for the watch I made.)

Have Some Wine at CVS

CVS also known as Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels, is a cozy little french wine bar which offers, well, a lot of wine, in addition to small bites. CVS is located in Neal’s Yard which is super cool place to hang and eat. They also have a location in NYC too.

Shop at Finisterre

Finisterre is the British version of Saturday’s Surf. The brand was created over 14 years ago and offers a range of clothing that are both functional and sustainable. The collection is inspired by surf, and is innovating and stylish.  Plus, they have coffee bar!

Smell Every Single Scent at Miller Harris

Seven Dials is the place to go if you want to buy someone special or loved ones a gift for any occasion. They have these specialty stores that can’t be found anywhere else. One of those stores is Miller Harris— a Perfumer in London, all their perfumes are considered to be unisex. They offer a range of sweet, strong and fruity scents. Their latest is Le Cedre!

I recently visited Aruba for the first time ever (not my last, I can assure you that.) I called The Ritz-Carlton home for the weekend, made a few new pink friends and made the most epic memories one can ask for. Overall the resort is pretty casual, so no need for any blazers or dress shirts, you’re on vacation after all. If you’re looking for a luxury hotel with exceptional service, I mean the entire staff at the resort is super friendly, great bites and all the amenities one needs during their break, the Ritz-Carlton is the place to be!

9 Things to do While you’re In Aruba

  1. Get a Massage at the Ritz-Carlton. If you want a luxury spa experience, an opportunity to decompress and relax. Click here
  2. Dinner on The Beach. If ever dreamed about having dinner on the beach, like one of those picture-perfect scenes straight from any of those movies, you can do so at The Ritz-Carlton. Wine & dine with Solanio while enjoying each other’s company as the one of the most breathe-taking sunsets takes place. (View more here)
  3. Rent a beach or pool Cabana. During the day you have the option of renting a beach or pool cabana. I would suggest doing each once while you’re there so you can get the full experience. Both are pretty great, however if you want something more personal and private, I would suggest going with the beach cabanas.
  4. Make friends with the Flamingos. Sadly, they’re not on linkedin, but you’ll have to venture out to Renaissance Island to meet the 6 pink flamingos that live in Aruba. Many of my friends thought I was really good with photoshop after posting one of those photos with the flamingos, but I can assure they are 100% real.
  5. Paddle Boarding. The Ritz-Carlton offers a few water sports activities including Paddle Boarding. The water is pretty shallow so it makes it a little easier to climb on top of the board, but don’t be fooled, it is a bit harder than it looks.
  6. Eat/Drink at the Club Lounge. If you have access to this club, USE IT. The breakfast is better than the view, and the view is quite exceptional. If you’re ever looking for a quick bite or want a glass of something The Club Lounge at The RC is the place.
  7. Beach Please. Some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen in my life–and the water? Crystal clear and more blue than the sky. If you’re looking to venture out of the hotel, try Eagle Beach (see above for a photo with a puppy photobombing my instagram.)
  8. Sunset Cruise. with De Palm Tours. Cruise the sea and watch the sun set while sipping on rose or your favorite cocktail.
  9. Go big or Go Home- Play at the Casino (with the hopes of winning big). Now, I don’t endorse being a gambler, but play smart. The Ritz-Carlton casino has an assortment of casino games ranging from traditional table favorites to a wide variety of slot machines.
